The Ford F-series lost its number one sales position for the first time since 1992. It was passed by four cars – the Honda Civic, Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, and Honda Accord. This is a sign of consumers reacting to $4 gasoline. Ford and GM have both been adjusting to the changes. GM is closing four plants to cut pickup and SUV production. General Motors is also developing smaller cars and an electric car called the Chevy Volt. Ford will begin sales of the subcompact Fiesta in a few years.
